There has been a general push around the internet to make SSL universal across the internet.
SSL basically encrypts your data across the internet so third parties can't see your internet banking details or see what you are putting into facebook.
Google is now stepping up its fight against websites who don't use SSL. Soon, visitors using the Chrome Browser get prompts that your site is not secure which may cause alarm to your customers.
When will this show?
The 'Not secure' will come up in two additional instances
- when users enter data on an HTTP page (like a contact form or search box)
- On all HTTP pages visited in Incognito mode
Chrome has also come out saying that;
- Any pages with passwords (logins) or credit card details are required to be over HTTPS.
What do you do?
Check if you have SSL on your site. In chrome it will look like this;
