We are looking forward to working with you.
What are Block Hours?
Block hours are hours you buy from our business that you can use on any services you require from our company.
Why Buy Block Hours?
The purpose of providing block hours is to give us the ability to allocate staffing resources to your company. Most customers will start with block hours to test us out, and then move onto a managed IT agreement with us once they understand what we do and how we work.
We generally do not extend block hours on a regular basis as they are meant for projects and trials, not going maintenance and support.
What happens when I run out of Block Hours?
As soon as you run out of block hours, we stop work and call you. We will not go over and bill you later, with us, you are always in control.
How long to Block Hours Last?
Block hours expire 6 months from purchase.
Why do block hours expire?
Block hours expire because time expires. The best way to understand this concept is with this scenario.
Imagine you run a factory that can make 4 widgets a day, or 20 widgets a week. Customers who order widgets expect that you can deliver those widgets within 24-48 hours in many cases.
Some days you might make no widgets because customers don't need them, other times you might be at full capacity. You have to pay for 4 widgets a day, even if no customer choses to buy them.
Your sales guys go out and sell widget vouchers of 10, 20, 50 widgets with no expiry. The sales guys know that they can never sell more than 800 widgets a year because thats the maximum possible widgets you can sell minus 160 widgets to account for quiet times.
|Date||Widgets made||Widgets sold||Widgets owed to customers|
By not expiring the coupons, over the next 4 years your company accrues 900 widgets debt owed. If all of those customers all wanted their 900 widgets in 2008 three things would happen.
- There would be no more cash coming into your business as none of your salespeople would be able to sell any more widgets.
- you would not be able to deliver on the 900 widgets as its over your total capacity. Customers would have to wait and be unhappy.
- You would go out of business.
Change Widgets to hours and you suddenly realise why we have to expire block hours. If our staff are pre-committed to your business and you don't use them, we can't afford to carry those costs on your behalf.
