Multi-factor Authentication(MFA) or Two Factor Authentication (2FA) as it’s sometimes called is a security feature combines something you know (your email address and password) and something you have(an app on your device creates a code).

The reason MFA is so effective is because your password is no longer all you need to access your account. In order to gain access you need two forms of identification which slows down any potential breaches to your accounts.
